Mallow Juvenile Club Notes

Continued thanks to Paul O Mahony and Dano’s SuperValu for their invaluable support of the juvenile club.  It is this type of commitment from local businesses that enables the club to move forward and improve through training and equipment.  Their sponsorship is vital and so we would urge you to shop local in Dano’s SuperValu, Bellevue.  And you can also advance purchase tickets for all Cork league games and get €5 off when you buy them from Dano’s.

Our U8’s got their year underway at the first football monster blitz held at Glantane last Saturday morning. We had a great turn out which allowed us to field two teams. Both teams did very well, and gave fine displays  of the skills they have been practicing so hard for the last few weeks at Sunday morning training. A special word of thanks to the parents and supporters for travelling in such great numbers and encouragement they gave to the players during the blitz games.

Indoor training is finished for now, so no training this Sunday. Outdoor training will be on Mondays (Hurling) and Thursdays(Football) at 6:30 pm, beginning with hurling this Monday (April 7th). Helmet, shin guards, and gum shield are mandatory for hurling.

Mallow Fe13 played out a fiercely competitive game against a strong, physical Ballincollig team last Sunday in Ballincollig. With a very spirited display Mallow led at half time 3-1 to 1-1 but as the game wore on Ballincollig’s greater physicality began to tell and coupled with a few bad wides from Mallow towards the end of the contest, Ballincollig closed it out on a score line of Ballincollig 3-5 Mallow 3-4. A great display from the lads who did themselves proud!

The team were: T Hickey, A Bolster, S O’Flynn, T Woulfe, E Crone, N O’Riordan, M O’Callaghan, S Mc Donnell, F Woods, C Carroll, M Duignan, E Kelleher, M Fitzpatrick, A Cummins, J Delaney, J Madigan, D Sheehan, G O’Donovan, J O’Keeffe

Fixture: Fe16 hurlers are in  league action  v Sarsfields on Wednesday 9th Apr in Mallow at 7pm.

County Final here we come!! 2013 Fe15 Peil P2 County Final Mallow v Mitchelstown will take place on Saturday April 5th at 6.00pm in Glanworth.  Can you tweet your messages of support for the boys to @MalaJuvenileGAA and @rebelogcork, using #MaghEallaAbú please? I hope to see you all there with your hat, flags, scarves and headbands in the Mallow colours.

Feile Peil

Mallow were scheduled to play their Feile na nOg Peil 1/4 final last night against Glanmire in Macroom and we will have a full match report in next week’s notes. (Photo attached of team)

Our Minor P2 Football Championship campaign got underway in Ballincollig on Tues 1st April v Fr. O Neills.  Mallow were the victors by two points in a tight competition.  Full time score was Mallow 3-09 Fr. O Neills 2-10.  This gives our Cork Minors and leaving cert students some breathing room as the next round is scheduled to be played in the summer months. Full report next week.

There’s just over a month to the start of adult championship competitions with both the hurlers and footballers in action in May, which means there’s still time to get your Mallow leisure wear in the Club Shop.  It’s open in the Club House on Thursday nights from 6.30-7.30pm.
