The U13 team had a great trip to Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday to support the Cork Hurlers and Footballers in their league games. Thanks to the coaches and parents that organised the outing. And I’m sure in years to come we’ll have Juvenile teams travelling from Mallow to see some of this crop of young Mallow men tog out for their county! U14 Football Premier 1 League, Mallow 2 -07  Carrigaline  0 -07, Saturday 8th March
Mallow played Carrigaline on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon.  We played against the wind in the first half .We started strong and put our first score up after a free by Trevor Doyle, followed by goal from Peter Attridge but Carrigaline came back at us with three points.  We had to fight hard to hold them at bay with great work by our defense lead by captain Eoghan Kenny and Oisin Carroll.   We tagged on another two points from play from Trevor Doyle and Shane Merritt.  Carrigaline got another before half time but we finished the half very strong being well in control with midfield and the forwards doing great work to stop their attack .We started the second half strongly, with a point from Kyle O Driscoll ,we worked hard but missed few scores. They came back into it picked off a few points. Our defense were under a lot of pressure but stood up to the challenge. Daithi Heffernan, Ronan Sheehan, Enock Khanyile,  Niall Delaney and Kyle O Driscoll worked very hard to control them we added another point from play from Ryan Cronin-Jenks. But they kept coming at us and got another. Our lead was now down to two points with five minutes to go. Our forwards were working hard to get scores and Tommie Downes landed a huge point from way out on the wing to settle thing down again. Then came the finishing touch a beautifully worked ball from defense to attack into Peter Attridge’s hands and he made no mistake, into the back of the net this finished a great display from the boys .Well done to all and thanks to the parents for the great support on the day.

They were beaten on the day by a stronger team but showed great commitment and heart. Well done boys and keep up the good work at training.
