Round 1 – Eighteen teams (nine games). Winners to Round 3, losers to Round 2. Round 2 – Nine losers from Round 1 and the Preliminary Round Loser. Ten teams (5 games). Losers eliminated and play off to find the bottom two teams in the Championship. If the Preliminary Round winner is included here there cannot be a repeat of the Preliminary Round pairing. If the Preliminary Round winner is beaten in Round 1 and 2, they are not subject to relegation, having won their opening game. Round 3 – Nine winners from Round 1, five winners from Round 2 and two Divisional teams (total 16 teams) (eight games). Repeat pairings will be avoided in this round where possible.
