Mallow GAA

Mallow GAA Football and Hurling would like to welcome the return of Maureen’s Pub, O’Brien St. Mallow and O’Briens Garage, Cork Rd, Mallow as 2015 Sponsors, respectively. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to both Noel and Anne Dinan and family and Philip O’Brien and family for their continued support of the club. We hope all our members and supporters will think of them during the year and return this enormous kindness.
Our Intermediate footballers had a good run out against Kanturk last Sunday morning in an entertaining challenge game. I’m sure it was great after the dark few months for players to get out on the pitch on a fresh, sunny St. Brigid’s day. The final score was Mallow 0-19 Kanturk 2-8. This was a pre-cursor to the Intermediates first League game away to St. Vincent’s this Friday 6th February at 730pm and we hope to get the support up to the city to shout the lads on.

What a sight to behold last Saturday when the club had the honour of hosting the Waterford Crystal Cup Senior Hurling final between Cork and Limerick. With over 2200 men, women and Children in attendance the complex really got to show off its capabilities for holding the big games and this thought was mirrored by many who attended on the day.. The club would just like to thank all the residents of Carrigoon and St. Joseph’s Rd for their co-operation on the night, we hope no one was inconvenienced too much and also the Mallow Rugby club for use of their grounds for parking. Of course it would not be possible without all the stewards, programme sellers, first aiders/red cross and staff of the complex who all braved the elements on such a cold night. Very much appreciated as always.
The next big game, the club is delighted to hold, is the Dr. Harty Cup Final between Thurles CBS and St. Francis College, Rochestown on Saturday 21st February with time to be confirmed..
Other games of interest- Corn Uí Mhuiri U-18 Football Semi Final between St. Brendan’s Killarney and St Francis College, Rochestown this Saturday 7th at 1230pm..
