Premier 2 U14 Football League Mallow 4-13 Mitchelstown 3-4 After 3 consecutive victories in the Hurling league our U14s turned to the big ball on Saturday last when they played Mitchelstown .These sides last met in an U11 North Cork Final 3 years ago in a game which mallow won by a point, in the previous 2 years Mallow played in the Premier 1 competition before regrading to Premier 2 for 2013.Mallow elected to play with the strong wind and things didn’t look great when we conceded a goal in the first minute. Undeterred we settled down to lead 1-4 to 1-0 before conceding a second soft goal. From here to half time we took complete control to lead on a score line of 4-6 to 2-1.Our goal scorers being Ben Slattery 2, Danny Buckley and John Browne. Playing against the wind in the second half the Mitchelstown fight back never materialized and it was the home side who pushed on to run out victors .This team is taking shape nicely and hopes are high for a good run in the championship. On Saturday last the team seems to be strong down the central positions with plenty of pace on the wings next weekend they play another league fixture in Carrigoon hopes are high that we can keep the unbeaten run going.
