Sean Hayes goaled for Mallow in the 4th minute catching a great ball from a long clearance from Killian O Connor. Two more points by Aaron Sheehan and Scott Walmsley settled Mallow and from this point they were in complete control.
With only 8 minutes on the clock Killian O Connor made a great run forward and laid the sliotar off to Scott Walmsley who pulled first time and left Douglas keeper with no chance. Pa Herlihy whose contribution over the hour was outstanding got on the score sheets with two points the latter from his own 65. Great work by Podge Buckley and Ryan Harkin set Aaron Sheehan up for another point.
Douglas got their second point in the 14th minute only for Aaron to reply immediately from the puck out with a point.
With the first half at the midway point Pa Herlihy pointed and again he was on the score sheet with a point following a pass from Podge, great work by Ronan Mills in the build up to this point.
Four unanswered points from Douglas did not faze Mallow as Aaron replied with a point, Mallow scored their third goal of the half when a long ball from Podge Buckley was flicked to the net by Sean Hayes (slightest of touches Podge may be claiming this score).
As half time drew near Douglas pointed but Mallow replied and finished strong with 2 points from Podge and Sean Hayes.
At the short whistle Mallow 3-11 Douglas 0-8.
The second half continued as the first half ended with Podge Buckley pointing for Mallow, Douglas threw everything at Mallow and scored 3 points only for Herlihy to reply with another for Mallow.

Path to the final
8th July Mallow 3-8 Blackrock 2-12 played in Blarney.
It was heartache for Pat Buckley’s charges in the first round of the
championship losing by a solitary point to Blackrock. The lead was to
change hands a few times over the course of the match but it was
Blackrock who held on by their fingertips to claim victory. Home then
to assess, regroup and return with a renewed hunger.
26th July Mallow 4-16 Sarsfields 0-07 in CIT
Next up it was Sars, and Mallow got their championship back on track
in style. From the throw in Mallow were in total control. Making use
of an exceptional bench Pat used 5 subs to great effect to run out
convincing winners. With big challenges lying ahead all players and
management were determined to work hard together to achieve ultimate
success.
16th August Mallow 7-9 Kiltha Og 2-6 in CIT
Despite atrocious weather conditions Mallow gave a master class to
those who had braved the elements. A trio of goals in the opening ten
minutes put the opposition on the back foot immediately. To say our
defence were superb is an understatement, again and again Kiltha were
to be denied any room to manoeuvre. Following the match thoughts turned
to the semi final and Mallow were to face the winners of St. Finbarrs
and Douglas.
