Minor Footballers Reach Final after extra time
Mallow 2-20
St Micheals 2-14
Our footballers reached the final of this years non exam football league with a 6 point victory over St Micheals in a game played in Mahon on Wednesday night last.Playing with the aid of a strong breeze mallow opened brightly and raced into a six point lead ,Micheals hit back with a goal and the sides traded point for point until half time at which we led on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-7.
.On the turn around the home side got on top and with 3 minutes left led by two points ,mallow never gave in and two late points sent the game to extra time.Like the first ten minutes of normal time we were in complete control and raced into a five point lead and playing controlled football sealed victory in the second half.22 players togged out minus injuries and the boys who were playing with the hurlers the following sunday so we were more than happy with this victory .Out of 2-20 the only score we got from a free was the equalizer at the end of normal time .The team will now face Nemo Rangers in the final next week. Our Non Exam Hurlers are also into the final where they will play Blackrock
Conor Kennedy U14 Memorial Hurling Tournament
This tournament organised by the Moycarkey Borris Juvenile Club was held in Littelton Co Tipperary on Saturday last and our Hurlers lined out against Clounoulty Rossmore Roscrea St Lachtains from Kilkenny Rathoath from County Meath and Hosts Moycarkey Borris. It was our boys first experience of inter county rivalry and its fair to say it will stand them well for the future as the games were most competitive but very sporting and Mallows young Hurlers more than held their own losing out to the Declan Ryan trained winners of the competition Clonoulty Rossmore. This was the first year of this competition which will be held annually and we are delighted to take up on the invitation to participate again in 2013.The Mallow club would like to thank our hosts for an outstanding days sport and for the hospitality shown to all teams. It is fair to say none of us returned back across the border hungry.
Schools Final
Gaelscoil Thomas Daibhis 8-6
St Patricks Boys School 4-0
The eagerly awaited North Cork schools final between two of our national schools was played in Carrigoon on Wednesday last .Club loyalty was put to one side as team mates battled for the glory of their school. The Gaelscoil despite losing the previous 4 finals were favorites but it was St Pats who led at half time on a scoreline of 2-0 to 1-2 and looked to be the better balanced of the teams, St Pats goals coming from Cian O Driscoll and Jack Dillon while Eoin O Murchu scored his sides 1-2.Few in the large attendance could have envisaged the final out come as The Gaelscoil took complete control on the turnaround with O Murchu adding another 7-4 to end up with a grand total of 8-6 St Pats replied with late goals from Ciaran Murphy and Timmy Mac Namara. So after a number of near misses congratulations to the Gaelscoil and with a youthful team st Pats can look forward to next year,Apart from O Murchu,Stiofan O Duffaigh, Maithiu Mac Gloinn, and Oisin o Muineachain played starring roles for the winners while Ciaran Murphy Timmy Mac Namara,Sean Woulfe,Eoin Kenny,Micheal O Malley and Jack Dillon done best for Pats.

Our under 13 Hurlers were unlucky when losing out by 3 points in this League fixture played in Carrigoon on tuesday last. Before we knew it Blackrock had rattled in 3 goals in the opening 7 minutes and we faced an uphill task.to be fair we battled hard and with 10 minutes remaining trailed by a single point,as we laid siege to the rockies goal searching for an equaliser we got for a sucker punch when blackrock scored a breakaway goal .Great credit is due to both teams for providing an outstanding contest.Team Steven Duffy,Gearoid Murphy,Eoin o Leary,Eoin Buckley, tim Mac Namara,Eoin Murphy,Oisin Moynihan,Matthew Mac Glynn,Ben Slattery,David Nyhan,Kenneth Mills,John Browne,Sean Woulfe,Daithi Heffernan,Tom Duignan,Subs Conor O Sullivan and Brian Carey
