Feile Peil 2012
Mallow U14s made the journey to West Cork on Sunday last for the first round of the Feile and returned home with a great victory .This team started the season slowly but over the last number of weeks have found the winning groove .Hopes were high that this would continue on Sunday when we faced Clonakilty. Our opponents got off to a flyer and led 1-2 to 0-1 and were on top all over the field, our Full back line were under pressure but bobby Kennedy Liam Daly and Ruairi Ganley stood firm .Gradually we settled and playing great football led at half time on a scoreline of 4-4 to 1-10 the highlight being the scoring of three goals from Full forward Darragh Moynihan these goals were set up by smart play from the two corner forwards John Connoughton and Robbie Walshe others to impress were the half back trio of Ronan Barrett Kenneth Mills and Micheal Healy while Midfielders Jack Sheehan And Paul Lyons played out of their skin all through. The second half was a tight and tense affair with Clon getting the opening two scores ,Mallow goaled again through Steven o Callaghan and were thankful for great goal keeping from Kieran Hayes to deny Clon. The half forward line of Ben Slattery, Conor O Flynn and Eoin Murphy played intelligent football in this half and when Murphy soloed through for his second goal near full time victory was secured. Other subs used on the day Oisin Moynihan, Timmy Mac Namara, Thomas Duignan and Gearoid o Connell also played their part in this victory. Mallow now move on to meet Douglas this weekend, it is hoped to have our injured players back for this. U16 Premier football League
A draw was a fair result in this League game played in Carrigoon last Saturday. Mallow playing their first game of the season played with the wind in the first half and led by 4 points at half time .Aghada took control on the turnover and led by 3 points with time almost up however Mallow never threw in the towel and deservedly equalised in injury time, this team will now turn to the small ball with four hurling games fixed for April.
