There was a very disappointing outcome, from a Mallow perspective, to last ever U21 North Cork Football Championship Final(being centralised next year) last week in Ballyhooly.. After such a blistering start we could imagine the horns going off up and down the main street before the game was even over but in fairness to Fermoy they turned it on its head and were the better team.. After a great start to the year, reaching the final of the Glenville U21 Football final, the lay off for the last couple of months probably took the momentum out of their campaign. For the most part these things can’t be helped I suppose. Still it would have been a great start for the Football Championship for all levels and ages in the club. Incidentally 7 of that team will be over age for next year, so it will be the turn of the young guns!! The final score was Mallow 1-14 Fermoy 3-10.
Mallow- Padraig Buckley, Mark Dineen, Daniel Sheehan, Jack O’Hanlon, Kieran O’Sullivan(0-1), Barry Hooton, Trevor Doyle, Killian O’Connor(0-4), Ryan Harkin(0-3), Pa Herlihy(1-1), Tommy Kennedy, Liam Attridge(0-2), Aaron Sheehan(0-1), Michael O’Rourke(0-2), Marc Kenny.
Subs- Alec Luttrell for Marc Kenny, Jack Kennedy for Mark Dineen

Our Intermediate Footballers win over Castletownbere last Sunday made it 6 out of 6 games unbeaten in the Division 3 Intermediate Football League, with their Championship game against Ballinora doubling up as Round 7. They retain their place at the top of the League table and there was a very touching minutes silence for the late Karen Buckley before the game with both teams meeting face to face in the middle of the park.. The full time score here was Mallow 2-13 Castletownbere 0-12. Mallow keep a nice momentum going ahead of their first round Championship clash with Ballinora on Saturday May 2nd at 7pm in Blarney… We wish them all the very best of luck…..
