Mallow GAA

Thanks as always to our Hurling and Football sponsors O’Briens Garage and Maureen’s Pub, Mallow for their continued generosity..

Our Intermediate Footballers and Hurlers are currently top of their respective Leagues after emphatic wins over the weekend, in fact almost within 48hrs of each other. Our Footballers travelled to Watergrashill on Friday night, with numbers fairly tight due to injuries or absences for one reason or another and came away with a great win to make it 5 wins out of 5. There was fantastic pride shown in the Jersey..The full time score was Mallow 1-9 Glenville 0-8.

Our Intermediate Hurlers ran out very comfortable winners over a physical Kilbrittain side last Sunday in Carrigoon despite a slow take off in the first half totally dominated the second half and the fact they scored 2-13 in the last two quarters pretty much tells it’s own story. The final score was Mallow 2-19 Kilbrittain 0-7

After the Intermediate Hurling League game on Sunday between Mallow and Kilbrittain the Mallow Intermediate Hurlers made a presentation of a cheque, with money they raised themselves in their recent draw, to the Kilbrittain team for the friends of Jamie Wall fund, whom played with Kilbrittain!
A Cork Minor, U-21 and Intermediate Hurler and also Cork Minor, U-21 Footballer Jamie’s story is well known now at this stage after he lost the power in his legs through an abscess on his spine. He is currently doing very well in the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire and the Intermediate Hurlers and everyone in Mallow GAA wish him all the very best in the future..
Pictured at the presentation are Eamonn Crowley, Mallow Hurling, and Kevin Kingston, Kilbrittain.. Well done lads it’s what our Association is all about….

Our Junior Hurlers made it 3 out of 3 then on Monday evening for Mallow under the guidance of Joe Daly and Tadgh O’Riordan. They had a fantastic win over Castletownroche last Monday night at home and are really gelling together to become a fine team. Excellent displays from Connor Hannon, Aidan Long, Fergal McCormack, Bryan Murphy, Rory Downey, Padraig Buckley, Marc Kenny and Aaron Woods made for a very fine sixty minutes of Hurling with Mallow wining on a score line of 2-9 to 0-14. Have you an hour a week for your Juvenile Club…

As the Juvenile Club are back up and running for 2015 Fergus Ryan who is now the Juvenile coaching co-ordinator would like to make an appeal to the adult section of the club especially all current and retired players to get involved. For the current players they would be looking for them to commit to one hour a week in either hurling or football. They would not have to go to matches or blitzes but help out with the coaching.  Surely one hour a week to give back to our club in the coaching of our kids is ok? ONE HOUR??? Fergus can be contacted on 0866089413 or gusryan75@hotmail.com
