Mallow GAA

Happy New Year to every one!!!

From the club point of view last Sunday’s McGrath Cup Semi Final was one for the history books in that we had three Mallow players togged out on the pitch that day! There was James Loughrey and Killian O’Connor togged out together for Cork and then remarkably we had Billy Sheahan who was togged out for the opposition, U.L. So what a fantastic feat to have all three on the pitch at the same time, congratulations to all three. Cork now face Kerry this Sunday in the final of the McGrath Cup with a throw in of 2pm, We’ll be meeting at 1215pm onwards so if you are around make sure and come up to give a hand.

Tonight Wednesday 15th we have two lads, Ryan Harkin and Killian O’Connor, involved with the Cork U21 Footballers who face Dublin in a challenge if you have an hour make sure to come up and support..

Mallow’s Intermediate Footballers take to the stage also this weekend in their first outing, under new manager Aidan Dorgan from Grenagh, in the Tom Creedon Cup. Apparently training has been going very well and no doubt the lads will be looking forward to getting out on the field. They face Ballinora at 330pm above in Carrigoon. Going from last year most of the team are all training hard with only one confirmed retiree, Pa O’Riordan. The club would like to wish Pa and his family all the very best in his future endeavours and personal life during the year. He has given his club great service and we hope to see him back involved in some capacity in the coming years.
Referee Conor Lane is holding an open meeting in the club Thursday 16th at 9pm regarding the new Black book rules. If anyone is unsure of same or would like to come along they are more than welcome to come..
