Mallow GAA News

The Intermediate footballers faced Macroom last Monday night in Carrigoon in the Semi-Final of the Tom Creedon Cup whilst also playing for League points for a Division 3 league game that was due to be played between these teams later this week. The final score was Mallow 2-15 Macroom 3-13. The Division 3 league points however were shared with the full time score of 210 for both teams standing as the league result.

Last night(Tuesday) the Intermediate hurlers faced Justin MaCarthy’s Castlelyons in a challenge game and it was a good run out for both sides with Mallow having to do without some of the footballers. All the same it gave selectors food for thought before the league campaign starts. The final score was 2-8 to 0-19…

This week sees the turn of our Junior Footballers and the face Glanmire in the Avondhu/Imokilly league and this game is fixed for Glanmire at 3pm on Saturday 18th.

March will be a hive of activity in the club. On Wednesday 14th March Notre Dame (The Fighting Irish) College Marching band will stop in town for an overnight stay and Mallow GAA sports complex will definitely be a stop on their way. The band use the Rakes of Mallow in their repertoire and so are very keen to see Mallow and what it has to offer. They will also be appearing on the Late Late show on the Friday 16th and then march in the St. Patricks day parade in Dublin on Sunday 18th. This is all in preparation for the Notre Dame Football team who are coming to Ireland in September to play a game in Dublin and of course we hope they stop in Mallow on the way. This is all down to the hard work of Cllr Ronan Sheehan who opened the lines of communication and pulled of this amazing coup for our town. Full details will be announced in the coming days.

Also on Thursday March 15th we have our Club Table Quiz starting from 830pm on wards and we hope everyone will attend.
Then on 17th March St. Patricks day Derry Kerrisk has organized a club night to raise Money for much needed team equipment and gear. There will be finger food and music by Frank Fitzpatrick amongst others and all for only an incredible €10. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS WORTHY CAUSE..
