Mallow GAA News

On Monday last 18th July Mallow’s Minor Hurlers faced ‘Shandrum in Buttevant in a Championship tie and the game, it can be said, did not live up to expectation. However it is the final score that counts and a good win for the club all the same  Mallow 2-14 Shandrum 0-11.

The other big game of the week is the Junior A Football Championship Mallow V Kilworth on this Saturday 23rd July in Ballyhooly at 8pm. At the time of going to print. Its been a fairly successful year for Mallow thus far but support for a team is vital in advancing in any competition so we hope to see ye all there..

The draws for the fourth round Premier Intermediate hurling and football have been made and are as follows:

Premier Intermediate Hurling Mallow V Blarney Saturday 30th July in Donughmore at 730pm. Then on the 13th August Premier Intermediate Football Mallow V Clyda Rovers in Killavullen with the time to be confirmed..

Last Thursday 14th and Friday 15th saw the 2011 annual Mallow GAA Eugene Carey golf classic and once again it was a rip roaring success with over eighty teams competing over the two days. Mallow GAA would, at this point, like to thank sincerely everyone who entered teams, sponsored Tee boxes and prizes and as always a big thanks must be extended to our Secretary Nuala Murphy, Cathal Lombard of Eugene Carey solicitors and Derry Kerrisk for whom without the Classic would not be possible. Also on the day a big thanks to everyone from the Club who helped out in anyway and there are too many to mention but we must mention Bill O’Malley and Liam Ware who were in the golf club on Friday morning from 8am till the last Tee off at 6pm and then went up to the club to help with our weekly bingo. A fierce days work!!!

A big thank you, as always to Sheehan Brothers butchers for sponsoring the first class food on the day it was much appreciated by everyone limping off the 18th Green. The Sheehans Brothers butchers sponsor so much in the club throughout the year and for that we are eternally grateful..

Of course Eugene Carey himself was talked about a huge amount over the two days and the immeasurable loss he still remains. Especially in those social circumstances having the bit of banter on the first Tee box making everyone feeling at ease.

Our club Bingo continues every Friday night at 730pm and is now picking up pace with numbers growing every week..
