Mallow GAA

Thanks to our proud club sponsors O’Briens Garage, Mallow and Maureen’s Pub, O’Brien St. Mallow..

Our Junior Footballers fell short of the challenge of near neighbours Ballyclough last Friday in the Junior A Football Championship. To their credit though they tried their best to battle through but Ballyclough were the more polished side.. They never threw in the towel despite the uphill battle they faced and great fighting by Mark Roche, Alan Hogan, Barry Hooton and Michael O’Rourke showed the real spirit at the heart of this team. Even substitute Craig Lynch got in on the action but unfortunately they couldn’t stem the Ballyclough firing power. The final score was Mallow 0-8 Ballyclough 3-14. Mallow now face Kilshannig in Round 2 and we are sure to see the team that has impressed us so much during their League campaign re-emerge again..
Mallow- Colman Sheehan, Mark Dineen, Stephen Coughlan, Ray Willis, Gavin O’Sullivan, Andrew Cashman(C), Barry Hooton(0-1), Cian O’Neill, Michael Murphy, Mark Roche(0-2), Alan Hogan(0-1), Michael O’Rourke(3, 2f), Jamie O’Connor, Richie Willis, Kieran Byrne.
Subs- Jack Murphy for Michael Murphy(12′ Inj), Craig Lynch(0-1) for Gavin O’Sullivan, Marc Kenny for Jamie O’Connor, Keane Buckley for Kieran Byrne, Fionn Moynihan for Ray Willis.

Our Intermediate Hurlers had their last League game, before first Round Championship action, against a very fiery and physical Kildorrery side last weekend. The game was a hotbed of intensity from start to finish and it has to be said Mallow were an absolute joy to watch really stepping up to the mark. Their confidence and skill level, so vastly improved, should bode them well in the days ahead. The final score was Mallow 3-16 Kildorrery 1-11.
After a long preparation it’s finally Championship week and we would like to wish Captain Fionn O’Neill and all his team as well as Management and backroom team, Joe Buckley, Dermot O’Riordan, Barney O’Connor, John Foley, Ray Cosgrove and John O’Connell the very best of luck on Saturday. The commitment and absolute hard work all involved have given, on behalf of their club this year, is sure to be rewarded. Of course in case any of you have been in hiding the fixture is:
